I’m such a sucker for a good simple happy story. The funny little cat that is around in Aria gets an origin episode. “Dai kandoshita!” For some reason story elements like this sorta hit me. These sorts of elements which take like 20+ episodes to get to, and do nothing but really deep characterization really [...]
So over at joystick I got to see something I worked on get a lot of Diggs. I did the Unreal Engine work, materials, animation tree hookups, etc. One of the co-workers did the textures and mesh. Worked out pretty well, I’d say.
GDC 2008, Friday. Today was the last day of all the madness. I upgraded my pass to go see a few more classes today. Specifically about python script for Tech artists. I’m a technical artist, I need to learn some python script for Softimage XSI. Seems like I need to go to this class. I [...]
Thursday revisited. Going to see tools in use helps me a great deal. The FX Composer 2.5 nvidia is about to release here looks pretty daunting at first. Lots and lots of code, it’s not visual (for an artist) and it’s not artist friendly. However, after watching *how* it’s used I got too see the [...]
GDC 2008, Thursday. The Black Point Party. I’m quite incapable of writing anything at the moment. After several beers and a few shots… All i can do is pass out. I remember something about PQRS, aka Boom Blocks. There was something really cool about the new nvidia fx shader writing tool. I remember people I’ve [...]
GDC 2008 Wednesday. I managed to go to a few sessions today. Something about the DS and rag-dolls… quite programmy, lots of code. I managed to understand what was going on, but applying it is going to be a challenge, I left before my brain started to leak out of my tear ducts. I decided [...]
GDC 2008, Tuesday. Meetings meetings meeting. Game Connect is a venue setup for developers looking for publishers, or developers looking for service providers. We’re a developer and a service provider. We have a strong team which can deliver top quality product at bottom barrel dollar. This puts us in a really awkward position. Of course [...]
GDC 2008, Monday. Started the day late. got to the first tutorial session sponsored by Microsoft. XNA was originally intended to allow the independent gamer to build their own games. Turns out, making games is hard. Funny thing though, the framework allowed commercial developers a simple prototype Dev environment. So these developers saw that the [...]
I’ve been working on Emberscribe all week. I needed a break so I wrote this in the last hour or so. It’s a kung-fu style story line. A hundred years ago a legend began with a boy who rescued a dragon. The boy’s friendship with the dragon gifted him with great powers. His fists glowed [...]
